For my brave friends
Today, Singapore is very much a vibrant country. So much so, that without certain ppl filling up certain jobs, we pretty much wun run.
The younger generations today are choosing jobs which the country needs instead of those that they actually enjoy. It’ll be the dollar signs that counts at the end of the day.
There are people like myself who are afraid of getting into their passion as a job. Singing, theater, dace, fashion, animation and sports are just to name a few. And so i have a white collar boring job that brings home the bread.
Of course there are ppl who pursue their passion. Some did not make it. Some are still trying. Some lost everything for it. Basically, it is nearly impossible here.
The market for these is so small that having a white collar job is more secured.
So our talents move elsewhere. We have singers who were groomed in Taiwan before coming back here as a pit stop to promote their works.
The government speaks of promoting arts here, seriously i think its to give tourists something to do after they’re done with USS or MBS.
So this post is for those who chose to chase after what they love, for all those in non-mainstream courses we don’t see in local universities.
If i have kids, I will not stop them from letting their creative juices flowing. You’ll never know what will light up their little flames we call passion.
My dream job? Hahahahahaha…
